On March 12th, the Shanghai Low-altitude Traffic Technology Innovation Consortium (hereinafter referred to as the "Consortium") was officially inaugurated in Shanghai. Professor Chen Fang from the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, as a member of the Consortium's Coordination Committee, has been deeply involved in the construction of this major technological innovation platform, injecting Jiaotong University's wisdom and strength into the safe and healthy development of Shanghai's low-altitude economy.
The consortium is guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Transport and brings together 11 top research institutes, universities and enterprises. It aims to create a collaborative innovation ecosystem for low-altitude transportation, and to help Shanghai build an internationally influential "Sky City". The consortium has established a coordination committee, which serves as the highest deliberative body. The committee members are designated by the initiating units and are responsible for coordinating major issues, implementing the decisions made by the members' congress and related matters, and handling emergency affairs of the consortium.
Professor Chen Fang stated that low-altitude traffic is an important direction for the future development of urban transportation. Universities can fully leverage their advantages of interdisciplinary integration and collaborate with all parties to deepen cooperation in technological research and development, standard setting, and talent cultivation in the low-altitude economic industry. They should focus on conducting specialized research in strategic planning, airspace collaborative management, flight scenario applications, and standard system construction, promoting key technological breakthroughs and the transformation of related achievements, to provide feasible solutions for building a smart, efficient, and green low-altitude transportation network.
The establishment of the consortium marks a new stage in Shanghai's low-altitude traffic technology innovation. Taking this cooperation as an opportunity, it will join hands with all member units to jointly explore cutting-edge technologies in the low-altitude traffic field, promote the improvement of policies, regulations and industry standards, and help Shanghai create a "multi-point blooming, full-domain linkage" low-altitude economy demonstration model, contributing Jiaotong University's strength to the city's digital transformation and sustainable development.
